Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquiere 2009 Sweat Shirt
Sweat③
Balenciaga entered. That said, I would like to introduce Nicolas Ghesquiere, who led the former Balenciaga, not the current Demna Gvasalia.
In the first place, Balenciaga is the maison established by Cristóbal Balenciaga in 1917. The maison will be closed in 1968, but in 1986 Jacques Bogart will buy the maison and Balenciaga will be revived. In 1997, Nicolas Ghesquiere took over as designer. Nicolas Ghesquiere worked as a designer until 2013 and made Balenciaga a success. After that, Alexander Wang and the current Demna Gvasalia are still fresh in our memory. The Classic series bags currently in the Balenciaga store are based on designs by Nicolas Ghesquiere.
Those of you who know Balenciaga in the past will remember that Nicolas Ghesquiere's creation was a modern creation anyway. The sweatshirts we are introducing are full of Nicolas Ghesquiere-like creations. Although it is a black body, the surface is thinly coated with rubber. And the gusset around the neck is sewn on. Similarly, the raglan stitching on the shoulder is also sewn together. The vector is very different from the Maison Margiela Icon sweatshirt mentioned earlier, and although it has a very modern impression, Nicolas Ghesquiere's creation is influenced by Martin Margiela, who he admires. I can see it. This kind of creation and unraveling the details may be the fun of vintage clothes.
Naturally, Balenciaga's items from the Nicolas Ghesquiere era have rarely been seen in the market in recent years. Even in Balenciaga, Nicolas Ghesquiere dares to make that choice in modern times.
